Rolo

Beautiful Rolo

A rescue cat who has been waiting to be adopted for nearly three months has learnt a paw-some trick.

Black and white puss Rolo has been at RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre, near Chester-le-Street, in County Durham, since the New Year and has watched over 40 other cats get adopted into new homes.

Last week, he decided he had to take matters into his own paws, and learnt a new trick to help him get noticed.

Now he can give both paws, and a high five, just like a dog.

Centre spokesman Luka Atkinson said: "Rolo was obviously fed up with being overlooked for a new home, and is doing everything he can to get noticed."

"He's a superstar, and we are baffled as to why he has struggled to be chosen so far. The video of him showing his new tricks has been so popular on our RSPCA Felledge Facebook page."

Rolo arrived at the centre on the 3rd January, 2017, when he was brought in by an RSPCA inspector who found him injured and straying.

He had open wounds from scratches and bites to his face suspected to have been caused by protecting himself from fights with other stray cats.

Rolo is an unusually large cat, around six years old and is described as "a really confident boy who takes everything in his stride."

Luka added: "We'd love to see Rolo find his new home, especially now that he's shown the world his great character and zest for life. He enjoys learning tricks in return for treats, so who knows what else he's capable of learning in his new home?"
