|Feeding your Adult Cat|
Do not be surprised if your kitten's food intake goes down once it has matured.
Once growth stops, there is only a nutritional need for maintenance - except in pregnancy or feeding a litter. The amount it will eat is, however, subject to individual variation. As a rough guide, an adult cat might eat anything from 300-480 grams (10-16 oz) of canned food a day.
Most cats will eat only what they need - providing you put down enough food for them. It is usual, then, to feed to appetite unless your cat tends to get overweight. The fat cat is not all that common, but if yours does become overweight, cut out titbits and restrict its intake of food.
