The function of grooming is to keep the coat clean and free of dead hair and skin, this also helps to tone up the muscles, as well as stimulating the blood circulation.

Cats need help with their grooming from us the owners. If the weather permits, outside is the best place for grooming your cat. If an outdoor grooming session is not possible then it is a good idea to place your cat on a newspaper or plastic sheeting to keep control of dead hair and dirt.

While grooming your cat, take the opportunity to have a quick health check of your pet.

Grooming should be a regular part of your cat's routine. Although your cat will probably want to make a game of it and try to bite the brush and comb, they will soon come to appreciate the attention they receive.
