Artist: Roger Bolden

Website: http://www.rogerbolden.com

My name is Roger Bolden and have had a fascination for nature, all creatures great and small, since I can remember. After a few years away from my paints and brushes I decided to pick up the paint brushes and return to artistry.

Whenever I can, I go out in the outdoors, whether it's my local park, in the countryside or week long hikes abroad, always taking my camera or a sketchpad to try and get the fundamental nature of everything that I see.

I specialised in pet portraiture, why? You ask... because pets are your companions, your confidantes. There are there for you unconditionally.

Through my paintings I hope to capture the character of your pet giving you something that you can cherish for many years.

I am mostly self-taught and have been painting on and off for a couple of decades. I specialise in water-colours which (in my opinion) are the ideal medium in which to capture your pet's essence and character.

I only use the best quality artist materials that will resist yellowing or fading over a long time. Watercolours involve laying thin layers or glazes of colour to create a realistic image. It involves vast amounts of patience and care. Watercolour is notoriously difficult to master as corrections cannot be made when the paint is dry. This is a slow process but the quality and detail is worth it.

Please remember: Pictures optimised for web pages do not do justice to the artwork, especially watercolours.
